We

The Franklin To
establish a close association of those persons who are interested in
the study of gems, rocks, minerals and the sciences and arts related
to them. We are a working organization that operates and maintains
The Franklin Gem and Mineral Museum.

Who Are We? The Franklin Gem & Mineral Society which
was established in 1972 owns and operates the Franklin, NC Gem and Mineral
Museum.
The
Society operates under a Board of Directors. It is a 501c3 Charitable,
Non Profit, Volunteer Organization which sponsors Educational Scholarships
for those interested in the study of Geology and its related fields
including the Lapidary Arts.
We co-sponsor with the Franklin Area Chamber of Commerce: the July
"Gemboree" as well as the October "Leaf-Lookers Gemboree" October 16-18, 2009 At these events, as well as, at
local schools and at the museum itself, we demonstrate many aspects
of the Lapidary Arts which include Stone Faceting, Stone
Cabbing, Wire Wrapping and other forms of jewelry making.
We also give tips on Gem & Mineral Identification. Classes in the are available to Members of The Gem & Mineral Society of Franklin,
